Why LEASE 2019 Kia Soul near Raleigh NC
The Kia Soul comes into the 2019 model year with its youthful style and charm intact. It’s more than a pretty face, though some buyers may find it a bit on the boxy side. This tall-roof wagon has all the style you’re looking for, but inside, it’s a little more subdued, with its high-quality materials and nicely finished cabin. Read on to learn more about this year’s Kia Soul models, as well as our leasing and finance options.
Exterior – 2019 Kia Soul
The 2019 Soul proves that cheap design doesn’t mean low-budget looks or quality. The vehicle’s energetic style belies its price tag, and we think that’s why it’s so popular with younger drivers. The Soul was blessed with fabulous, yet functional lines, and it has aged well. Its upright windshield, stylishly-canted rear pillar, and sci-fi-ready rear end really speak to its audience. However, if you want a bit more substance to go with your style, there’s glossy trim available.
Interior – Kia Soul near Raleigh NC
Though the Soul is billed as an economy vehicle, its cabin has some premium touches among all the budget-friendly textures and shapes. The steering wheel is suitably stout, the gauge cluster has a sporty look, and the door and dash panels have soft-touch surfaces. You’ll find speakers on top of the dash, and you’ll be pleased to see that the center control stack is angled toward you for easy access as you drive.
While the Soul sits squarely in a small car’s footprint, its overhead room makes it seem larger than it really is. It seats four adults in relative comfort, and cargo space is quite plentiful. The Soul’s 163″ length is split fairly evenly between front- and rear-seat riders, and the cargo area is spacious even with the seats upright.
Front-seat passengers get superb head and legroom. The seats in the 2019 Soul have high-bottom cushions and the gauge panel sits low for easy reading. While the seats may be cramped for the tallest drivers and passengers, they’re comfortable enough for long road trips. Two can sit comfortably in the rear seat, and there’s even an armrest between those seats-which will make parents (and quarrelsome kids) very happy.
Mechanical – Kia Soul specs near Raleigh
The Kia Soul was last redesigned in 2014, and when that occurred, the suspension was updated with better shocks and increased travel. For a short-wheelbase, tall wagon, it does its very best to minimize ride harshness on rough roads. While it’s no luxury car, the Soul’s ride quality is better than expected, and it proves that a quirky, roomy shape doesn’t have to take away from the advantages of an economy car.
Powertrain – Kia Soul specs near Raleigh NC
For 2019, base models have the same inline four-cylinder as last year’s version. This 1.6L engine puts out 130hp and 118 lb. ft. of torque, and it can be mated to a six-speed manual or automatic. The Soul’s curb weight is approximately 3000 pounds, but the engine is powerful enough to pull it right along.
However, if you want a little more pep, we recommend the larger four-cylinder or the turbo four. The 2.0L four-cylinder found in the Soul Plus offers 161hp and 150 lb. ft. of torque; a six-speed auto is the only option. It’s available with auto emergency braking, which we believe should be standard on every model. The mid-level engine provides adequate power and smooth shifts, which should please almost every buyer.
With a step up to the top-level 1.6L turbocharged four-cylinder and its seven-speed dual-clutch auto transmission, you’ll give up that safety gear, but you’ll get the best drivetrain of the bunch. The turbo version has brisk acceleration for highway passing and merging, as well as torque steering. However, Sport mode negates this, adding weight without additional information.
Safety – 2019 Kia Soul dealer
While Kia has made some questionable packaging decisions as far as safety features are concerned, the ratings don’t lie. The IIHS gave it a Good rating in almost all crash tests, and it got the Top Safety Pick+ designation as well. The NHTSA agreed with the IIHS, giving the 2019 Soul a five-star rating overall. As stated before, auto emergency braking is only available on the Soul Plus. However, rearview cameras are now standard, as mandated by law; this brings the base display size up to five inches. Blind spot monitoring is optional on Exclaim and Plus models.
