The Forte has been a strong performer for Kia. As a compact sedan, it hits all the marks for people looking for practical vehicles that can meet their needs. The 2019 model is a third-generation version, and it’s undergone some changes that make it even more of an appealing choice. Here at Burlington KIA, serving Burlington, Durham, Raleigh, and Chapel Hill, we have many Fortes on our lot. Visiting us can give you the chance to size up the 2019 Kia Forte vs 2018 Kia Forte and see the different trims that we offer.
Exterior – 2019 Kia Forte
The wheelbase on the 2019 Kia Forte is the same as on the 2018 version. What has changed is its chassis. The new unibody chassis is now much stronger after more high-strength steel and other adhesives have been included in it. The 2019 model measures 3.2 inches longer and about an inch wider than the previous version. Combining those new dimensions with a slight increase in height results in a little more space for everyone, especially any adults who have found themselves in the back seat. In terms of appearances, the Forte has changed its look to be a bit sportier and more refined. Little details, like a creased hood, separated grille and headlights, and a roofline with a fastback style, work together to make a big difference.
Interior – Kia Forte in Burlington NC
As previously mentioned, the interior of the 2019 Kia Forte is quite roomy. Up front, the driver and passenger can control their own power-adjustable power seats, and everyone can get comfortable thanks to a dual-zone climate control that comes standard on all trims. The Forte now comes with an 8″ touch screen right in the middle of the dash rather than the 7″ display that was found on the 2018 model. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on all the trims of the 2019 models; these interfaces are only an available option on the 2018 base model but standard on the S and EX trims. The UVO infotainment system for both model years only comes on the S trims and above. The system’s capabilities increase as you go up in trim, culminating with the option to include UVO eServices, voice-command navigation, SiriusXM Traffic, and HD radio. Also available on the 2019 Kia is a deluxe, eight-speaker, 320-watt, Harman Kardon stereo system.
Mechanical – Kia Forte specs in Burlington
Both model years run on a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that comes with dual continuously variable valve timing and a multi-point fuel injection system. These engines can achieve 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque. While those numbers have stayed the same from year to year, there are a few differences in the related components that have made the 2019 Forte more efficient than the previous ones. Six-speed manual is standard on the FE model, and the LXS, S, and EX models come with Intelligent Variable Transmission with Sportmatic. With the six-speed manual, you can get an estimated mpg of 27/37, and with the Intelligent Variable Transmission, your estimated mpg increases to 31/41. On the 2018 Forte LX, the six-speed manual comes standard, and an electronically controlled six-speed automatic transmission with Sportmatic is available. The former system gets an estimated mpg of 25/34, and the latter can achieve an mpg of 29/37. The 2018 Kia Forte S and EX come standard with the automatic transmission. While driving, you can select from three different modes – Normal, Smart, and Sport – depending on the conditions and your preferences. If you want the best of both worlds, the Smart drive mode switches between Normal and Sport as it reacts to the road.
